This is a good opportunity to learn about alternative ways to make theater, beyond entertainment.
This interactive theater for social change workshop will offer participants the opportunity to examine and reflect on the stress that builds up in our everyday activities and in our interpersonal relationships. Image Theater methods will be employed to help participants  strategize ways to release the pressures and tensions we often face in our lives.

Every one is welcome, you do not have to be an actor to be part of this experience
Taught by Christina Marin, PhD and Abe Velasquez Jr.

Originally from Buenos Aires, Argentina, Sofia Rei Koutsovitis is an active vocalist and composer her music is grounded in traditional South American rhythms such as chacarera and zamba from Argentina, Afro-peruvian festejo and lando, along with some Brazilian genres that merge involving jazz harmonies and rich improvisations.

Affordable Art Evening with the support of visual artist Christopher Totaro, who showcased his most recent body of work at a lower price range starting from ten dollars and up. This was an effort to make art accessible to everyone and at the same time, contributing towards a social cause.  ArteRed allocated and coordinated the exhibition design at the gallery space. 110 Guests attended the exhibition and supported the initiative.

Collective Art Show, June 12th, 2008

• Description

A collective of 25 established and emerging artists showcasing a variety of artwork. It served as fundraiser and gave artists the opportunity to showcase their work. A variety of artwork was showcased: Photography, film, painting, music, and digital art. Local Participating artists include: Nereo Lopez, Tove Landgridge, Bonnie Muñoz, Henning Fischer, Miguel Blanco, Alexander Hammer, Noreen Souza, Johanna Mendez, Victoria Tapias, Andres Arriaga, Oscar Amaya, Andrea Fernandez, and Rafael Diaz. International participating artists include Carolina Salazar, Carolina Rodriguez, Jorge Espinoza, Gabriel Enrique Vargas, Clara Finkelstein, Diana Montañez, and Edwin Restrepo, among others.

250 people attended the event. The audience attending the exhibit was very diverse: Art collectors, gallery associates, art appreciators, New York University community, and young professionals.

This interactive Theatre of the Oppressed workshop is rooted in the theatre practices known worldwide as developed by director/political activist/ theorist, Augusto Boal from Brazil.
